Rainman asked:
An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman were in a pub in downtown New York.
Och, said the Scotsman, Ah still prefer the pubs back home. Why, in Glasgow, there’s a wee bar called McTavish’s. Now the landlord there goes out of his way for the locals so much that when you buy four drinks, he’ll give you the fifth drink for nothing. Well, said the Englishman, At my local, the Red Lion, the barman will buy you your third drink after you’ve bought the first two.
Ahhh, that’s nothin’ said the Irishman. Back home in Dublin there’s Ryan’s Bar. Now the moment you set foot in the place they’ll buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like. Then, when you’ve had enough drinks they’ll take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All on the house.
The Englishman and Scotsman immediately poured scorn on the Irishman’s claims – but he swore every word was true.
Well asked the Englishman, Did this actually happen to you?
No, no, not meself, personally, no, said the Irishman. But it did happen to me sister.

What are the best night spots in Dublin that cater to rock music? Most of the pubs seem to offer traditional Irish music, which I plan to enjoy as well, but definitely want to sample the local preferences in rock.

I will be flying into Dublin and will be immediatly renting a car to drive West. How does this itinerary sound?
*Day 1-Drive West to Galway stopping half-way for food and perhaps at Clonmacnoise/River Shannon. Arrive at Galway, drive thru The Burren, check out the Cliffs of Moher. Not sure where I’ll sleep that night but I’ll be moving South-bound.
*Day 2-Early morning drive South towards Dingle. Tour the Dingle Peninsula. I would like to sleep in a town with great pubs but that isn’t a stereotypical toursit trap.
*Day 3-Early morning to Killarney National Park and then begin driving towards Cork (where my departing flight leaves from at night).

This itinerary is very flexable, as my time is limited and I will be driving.
Any suggestions or info on driving times and stops to make along the way?
I will not be booking any hotels prior but any suggestions would be great.
I definitly do not want to spend time in Dublin.
I want to make it to the West and see The Cliffs of Moher and The Dingle Peninsula.
I realize it’ll be a lot of driving but I am not forcing getting from point A to Point B. I’ll just drive and stop along the way.
I am trying to make the most of the time I have and I cannot change where I arrive/depart from.

Does anyone know of any other fun things we can do? Will the Jameson Distillery be open on friday? we aren’t really into museums or art gallerys etc. many thanks.

I am visiting Dublin over the weekend of the the 7th-10th December with a group of friends,
We are hoping to find somewhere to watch the Ricky Hatton Fight which is being shown on Skysports in the veryearly hours of Sunday. Does anyone know:-
- Any pubs or guesthouses with accomodation willing to accomodate us.
- Or anywhere we could watch this, or organise something specially and arrange our own accomodation elsewhere.
Our group will be in the region of 10-15. Any help greatly appreciated, a hotel with a 24 hour bar and big screen would be perfect.
Many thanks
