depending on where in the emerald you want to buy, best place to start would be local council offices, they are normally pretty helpful so they will tell where to go from there. the irish vintners assoc may be able to help. im not sure what the average leasehold would cost anymore but since ireland introduced the non-smoking i do know that there are some bargains to be had. good luck and i hope it all works out for you.

The law in Ireland is to limit the amount of on-trade(pubs/nightclubs, etc). You would only be able to purchase a licence when someone wishes to sell their licence, so normally they are attached to premises.
The Local Authority, City, County or Town Councils would have the information on where some would be available.
Also, you could try getting information from
VFI
or
LVA

You have to apply to the Circuit Court and the Revenue Commissioners issue the Intoxicating Liquor Licence once the Court has granted the licence. The Finance Acts require applicants for certain liquor licences to have a tax clearance certificate.
It is still necessary to extinguish one drinks licence to create another. A licence holder who no longer wishes to trade can transfer as the discretion of the Court, the licence to the new owner or can extinguish the licence to facilitate for a new licence. The current market price for a pub licence is about €175,000-€185,000.
You can see the price range for pubs at the ‘pubsireland’ site and the relevant part of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2000 below:
