My child passport ran out last year, my boyfriend has booked a surprise trip for my birthday next month to Dublin on the 13th July (Not such a surprise now when he asked me is my passport in date and I said no!!)
Here’s what I want to know – How quickly can I get my passport renewed? I live close to Peterborough.
Do I have to ring up and arrange an interview or just turn up?
How much does it cost to have it renewed quickly? Can I have it the same day or will it take ages to be sent to me?
Please help I’m stressing out!!! Btw UK answers only please as it probably works differently in other countries.
Thanks.

Urgent applications-
If you need your passport within two weeks you should call our 24-hour Passport Adviceline 0300 222 0000 (see terms and conditions) to make an appointment at one of our offices. We can offer a Fast Track one week service or a Premium same-day service.
Good luck

You can do it same-day if you have the cash Documents..
Would you actually need a passport if going to Dublin?

Ok well you may know that there is no immigration control into the ROI from UK so you may not need a valid passport depending on airline requirments. Easyjet for example accepts passports expired up to 2 years for travel. wheras Ryanair require a valid passport. If you’re going by ferry then there is probably no need for ID.

If travelling to Eire from the UK, you do not need a passport although you will need some form of valid photo identification to board the plane. Check with the airline what they regard as valid photo id.
The passport office do provide a Premium Service costing £94 to renew a child passport. You will need to phone them up on 0300 222 0000 by 1pm weekday to stand a chance of getting an appointment at Peterborough.
