michael m asked:
We are flying into Shannon next month to begin our Irish 10 day adventure, driving around the country to Dublin anticlockwise. We will be going to the south-west corner initially, but wondered whether a side trip to Kilkenny from Shannon and then on to Killarney the next day would be a worthwhile exercise.?

first of all the width of Ireland can be traveled in four hours by bus…with all the stops…so by car its faster…then the length would be about eight hours…I would not fly at all…there is so much to enjoy as you travel…when I went I arrived England first to visit family there…then I could either fly or sail to Ireland…the flight was 300 and the ship was 150 dollars…but sailing the Irish Sea was great for me…we left England at midnight and arrived in the morning…then bussed across to Galway…
if I go again then I will fly straight to Galway airport…then I want to rent their equivilant of a RV…its a wagon with beds and such and pulled by a horse…then you could tour at leasure…and go all the way to Scotland as well…I have family in Ireland, England and Scotland…so I would enjoy touring Ireland completely and going on to Scotland…I love my family in England…but not London…great to have gone and seen it but would not choose it again…except to visit the family…
In England I went to Birmingham, Peterbourgh, London, and a few more place…and Hollymead to sail the sea….Ireland is the place to go for me…

Re above
Are you taking the p1ss?????
Nobody in ireland goes on holiday in a horse drawn RV are you for real???
Kilkenny is a beautiful medievil city built in norman times. A must see is Kilkenny castle.
However do try to see the rock of cashel in county tipperary (similar setting to the alhambra in spain). I have been to both.
If you get a horse drawn caavan the locals will laugh at you
Edit
Sorry Teri just seen that you are a turlough woman, didnt mean to sound rude.

first of all to Teri : What Ireland did you go to. People in Ireland dont go around in horse drawn RV’s
Kilkenny is a nice city but it is really small and you wouldnt really find enough stuff to do there for an entire day but if you really want to go there rent a car and go. Its approx. 2 hrs maybe 2 1/2 hrs from Shannon to Kilkenny (if you check just before you leave they will give you an exact travel time taking traffic, roadworks, etc. into consideration). and just to clarify, we are a developed country who does not use horse drawn RV’s, we have cars and camper vans like every other country in the world.
