Just happened to read about a pub called ‘The Dragon’ yesterday in the where-to-go supplement which is included in The Evening Herald every Friday. The girl reporter was there with her boyfriend and she gave it a thumbs up. She said her boyfriend said it looked like a Thai brothel and quickly added what I imagine a Thai brothel would be like. She said hmmm, I will be asking questions later. She was jokeing of course but went on to say that there were different groups of people there. Young couples, older couples, a few English visitors who she thought may have wandered in by mistake but they were enjoying themselves and having a good time.A group of young guys who thought two girls who were kissing were doing it as a turn on for them. One of the guys went over to chat them up and was met with a frosty reply after which the lads left. There was also a group of young ladies dancing and having a good time. The decor she said was a bit over the top.Red drapes and red lights chanderiers…. I am not doing a good job here about the decor but the pub sounded like a fun place if you were up for having a fun time. There was a couple of young men there kissing and enjoying it. She said it is a *** pub but not exclusively for Gays. And also that there were a lot of beautiful young men there. She finished that sentence with a sigh, meaning they would not be interested in her I guess. That is as much as I remember about the report but I remember thinking that Dublin is like any other big city now. I did’nt think there was such a place in the city. Hope this is of some help to you. You could check it out to make sure.

I went and got the Herald and I will write a bit as it is written:

Large swathes of red drapes, turquoise walls painted with roses, chandeliers and carved dragon statues are the order of the day. The boyfriend comments that it looks like a high-class Thai brothel or rather how he imagines one would look, he rephrases, when I look at him questioningly. Hmmm…I decide to leave the probing of his past until after a few drinks.

Loud decor aside, the Dragon is a treat. It’s always got a buzz. It’s early still but it is packed. The Dragon may be a *** bar but it’s straight-friendly and attracts a mixed crowd. There are *** couples, some straight couples, young people and older folk, a gang of teenagers camping it up on the dancefloor, a group of older British tourists who probably wandered in by mistake but they’re having a great time, and down by the bar I spot a well-known celebrity chatting to a trannie.

If public displays of affection offend you, then the Dragon is best avoided.

At the end of the report there is this list:

Do: Come prepared to party. Shy, retiring types need not apply.

Don’t: Bring your prejudices. There are plenty of other pubs in Dublin if you prefer to stick to the straight and narrow.

Food: The Dragon offers some of the best value cocktails in Dublin.7euro for a Mojito? Bring ‘em on.

Music: Strictly come dancing. Floor-filler disco and house tunes.

Eye Candy: Beautiful *** boys (sigh) trendy young things and older folk.

Pick-Up Potential: Well, it’s a *** bar, so depending on your predelictions your chances are either good or zero.

Cosy Corners: The red lights keep things dim, it’s packed, and nooks-and-crannies abound, plenty of scope for a private moment.

Sexiness Rating: Loud, brash and in your face, yes, but dull it ain’t.

The address: The Dragon, South Great George’s Street,Dublin2

Hope it’s ok to give the address

i’m sorry, the definition of a pub:

    a) a place where straight men hang out and share their feelings

    b) a place where straight men behave like little boys

a *** pub is an oxymoron.

    now please get AIDS
