Let’s take a look at some of the highlights. What better place is there to start than the Guinness Storehouse? This impressive building was the home of the fermentation process but nowadays it houses a fantastic attraction which introduces you to the world of Guinness.
There are eight levels to explore all in all, and you can even try pulling a pint of this famous beer yourself. You can also learn all about the history of Guinness and find out more about Arthur Guinness – the man who started it all.
If you want to learn more about the history of Dublin you should make the National Museum of Ireland your next stop. This is spread between several buildings, but the archaeology section is in Kildare Street in Dublin. There are all kinds of exhibits on display here that will show you a different side of the city.
Of course you cannot visit Dublin without heading in the direction of the zoo for the day. This is a perennial favourite among both adults and children, and you can enjoy getting up close to big cats, small bats and everything in between. There are plenty of buses which serve the zoo from the city centre too, so you won’t have any problem getting there.
If you need some downtime after all that sightseeing make sure you head for Phoenix Park. This is out to the west of the main centre of Dublin, and in fact you will find Dublin Zoo on the far eastern side of the park.
Besides the zoo you can see an ancient burial chamber, a Victorian garden and even Aras an Uachtarain – which is more commonly known to visitors as the President’s House. As you can see you get much more than just a park to explore when you visit Phoenix Park.
Right in the heart of the city is one of the most impressive sights of all. This is Dublin Castle, and while it has changed beyond measure since it was first built it is still well worth seeing. The Irish government uses it now, but in its earliest years the site was intended to defend the city if and when needed.
As you can see there is plenty to do on a weekend in Dublin. There are enough Dublin hotels on offer to fit every kind of budget too. So you’ll have plenty of cash left over to pay for your admission to all the best attractions. You just have to decide where to head for first.

I’m planning a trip to the UK this fall and am interested in second hand, or junk, shopping. I do it constantly here in the US, and was wondering if anyone had any tips for good places to check out? I’ll be staying in Milton Keyes and Glasgow while I’m there, and visiting Dublin and Belfast for sure. Thanks for any advice.
I also like to collect odds and ends, small glassware, trinkets, just old cool stuff, I appreciate the quick answers!
Y’know, said the scotsman, I still prefer the bars back home. In Glasgow, there’s a bar called Mc’tavish’s. Now the landlord there goes out of his way for the locals. So much so, that when you buy 4 drinks, he buys the 5th one for you.
Well, said the Englishman. At my local, the Red Lion, The barman there will buy you your 3rd drink, after you buy the first two.
Ahhhh ! That nuthin, said the irishman, back home in Dublin, there’s a bar called Ryans, now the moment you step in the door, they’ll buy you a drink, then another. All the drinks you like. Then, when you’ve had enough, they’ll take you upstairs and see you get laid. All on the house.
The English man and Scotsman immediately poured scorn on his claims, but he swore everything was true.
Well, said the Englishman, Did this actually happen to you?
Not to meself, personally, said the Irishman, but it happened to me sister

The Luck Of The Irish
An Irishman an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar.
The view was Fantastic, the beer excellent and the food exceptional.
Y ‘know, said the Scotsman, I still prefer the pubs back home.
Why, in Glasgow there’s a little bar called McTavish’s. The landlord there goes out
of his way for the locals so much that when you buy 4 drinks he will buy the 5th drink
for you.
Well, said the Englishman, at my local, the Red Lion, the barman there
will buy you your 3rd drink after you buy the first 2.
Ahhh, that’s nothin’ said the Irishman. Back home in Dublin there’s
Ryan’s Bar. Now the moment you set foot in the place they’ll buy you a
drink, then another – all the drinks you like. Then when you’ve had enough
drinks they’ll take you upstairs and see that you get laid. All on the house.
The Englishman and Scotsman immediately poured scorn on the Irishman’s
claims.
But he swore every word was true.
Well, said the Englishman, did this actually happen to you?
Not me myself, personally, no, said the Irishman.
But it happened to my sister.
